      Mine will hopefully help the environment! I work in an area called Green Chemistry which aims to make the chemical reactions we do more environmentally friendly and sustainable (which means we can keep doing it in the same way forever).
      Plastic is used all the time and we use it for all kinds of things (clothes, bags, phone screens etc) but at the moment it is made from crude oil. This crude oil is running out and we have no way of replacing it quickly (it would take hundreds and thousands of years to make it) so we have to find a way of making them in a more sustainable way. My work looks at making one type of plastic from fruit peel so we can move away from the old processes of using crude oil.
