I think it’s great being able to communicate to young people interested in science

I love outreach and going into schools to talk to students like yourself about why science is cool! I’m A Scientist is a perfect way of doing that on a bigger scale and talking to students from all over the country, not just in a 25 mile radius of where I live.
Also, I wish there was something like this when I was at school so I could find out about what a career in science is all about, it probably would’ve made my choices for A-Levels and a degree super easy! If I can help someone make that decision for themselves, I will be very happy!

There is no better way to share my enthusiasm about science other then answering your questions.

Science is fun, and I want to be able to share my experiences in science with you guys.

It’s great fun, explaining what I do, and trying to write explanations for the fantastic questions everyone asks!

I really like showing everyone how enthusiastic I can be about science, and hopefully to show that, yes, it is OK to be so excited by it!

I would have loved the opportunity to talk to scientists in a field I was interested in when I was younger so I think it’s great to be able to give people that opportunity.

I think outreach work, as well as being really fun to do, is really important as science often gets a bad reputation in the media so being able to understand a lot more of what scientists actually do (because most people really don’t have any idea of how research works) is important to getting people to realise how important it is to support research work or exactly why it’s so difficult to just find ‘a cure for cancer.’
