Honestly, the last book I read was a trashy chick lit book! It’s called Where Rainbows End by Cecelia Ahern (and is now a film called Love, Rosie). It isn’t the most intellectual of books but I needed a break from reading scientific journal articles and papers! 🙂
I’m currently reading “Bad Science” by Ben Goldacre. It’s worth a read – full of myths and legend that people say are “scientific”. I find myself reading a lot of popular science books as I find it interesting to learn how other people explain complex concepts. I did put down and stop reading another book in disgust after a particularly bad explanation (I’m not going to say what book it was – it is up to you to make up your own mind on books!). I didn’t finish that book, but I did email the author to say “I disagree with your explanation. It is confusing!”
The mechanics of the circulation by C. Caro et al.
It is a great starting point in my attempt to extend my work on extracellular matrix biomechanics to applications in cardiovascular diseases.
Last book I read was actually a play called ‘Copenhagen’ by Michael Frayn, which is based on conversations between Heisenberg and Bohr, two of the key figures in quantum mechanics. I’d love to say it was really enjoyable and really informative about the histories of these scientists but it’s a bit dire!
The last book I’ve read was Judge and Jury written by James Petterson, which is a thriller about the hunt of an Italian Mafia boss in America and how he was using his powers to stay out of prison. I do not have time to read loads of books, so when I do I try to keep away from scientific books as much as possible.
