Once you start working in science there are three options: academia, industry or self employed.
In academia you will be teaching the future generations at University level, although it is also possible to become a teacher at lower grades, such as GCSEs and AS levels.
Industry is always looking for the bright stars for the future, in order to gain an advantage over rival companies. If your research is really good they will pay top money to have you as their employee.
A number of graduates actually open up their own business, especially seeing that they would have gained a lot of knowledge throughout their degrees, and postgraduate endeavours.
