Definitely Big O! I can’t really think of anything that would make me stop doing science. If I won the prize, I’d continue my PhD but also work on some really cool outreach events which means I get to share science with students like you! Communicating science to a wider audience is so important and I would love to win so I could show students how exciting science can be!

This is a definite yes. If I win I will have the opportunity to take part in a number of STEM events that I would not have been able to do beforehand, but apart from that nothing will change in my day to day routine in the lab, apart maybe from being a little bit too happy for a couple of days.

Absolutely, winning would just give me the opportunity to run some spectroscopy-based outreach events. I do find getting to talk about spectroscopy and my research with people as well often gives me loads of ideas for my own work so I might just even up working a bit more.

Absolutely! And I’m sure the others in the group will agree with me on this.

And, to take your question further, I’m sure that, in the event of The Big Lottery Win, the five of us probably would still carry on with science also.

I think that my identity is so tied up with my work (i.e. being a scientist), that I don’t know what I would do if I suddenly wasn’t doing it any more.

Of course, I would be even more convinced!
