I must say I’ve never *not* wanted to be a scientist. It wasn’t really a choice, it just sort of happened. It all fitted in with my philosophy of “doing something I enjoy”!

‘Do something you love, and you’ll never work a day in your life’ – I don’t know who first said this, but it is true. Some days are a drag, yes, but overall I love what I do.

I’ve always loved science. Even before I knew what that meant, I was always asking how things worked and wondering what things were made of!
I really made up my mind when I was in college though and I had a fantastic chemistry teacher! She was my real inspiration!

I realised that I wanted to be a scientist when I chose my undergraduate studies in Chemistry, back in 1998

I realised that I wanted to be a scientist when I was doing my undergraduate. I was always indecisive about what to do after I graduate but once I was at University I realised I wanted to be in a scientist.

This would make the answer to your question to 6 years ago.
