Hello! I haven’t and the closest I’ve come is watching my supervisor (the one with the crazy hair) talk about them in these videos! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XLufmakbiU0

No, I seeing how clumsy I tend to be I do not think anyone will let me work with either of them, which is mainly for my own safety.

Plutonium itself is not that useful in chemistry, as it tends to decompose while red mercury is not that reactive and has limited chemistry uses.

I’m afraid not; as a spectroscopist I don’t really do that much synthetic chemistry!

I’ve not really had cause to analyse molecules containing these either.

I tend to work mostly with the lighter elements in the periodic table (think the first two rows) though I have ventured a little further in looking at some iron complexes recently so I haven’t ever looked at these kinds of elements. Light elements tend to behave a bit better for spectroscopic analysis which is convenient and are much easier to model computationally.
