• Question: Without gravity, would it be hard to breath ?

      Gravity usually doesn’t have much effect on breathing. So the astronauts in the space station can float in low gravity but the air is still around them inside the station and they can breath it OK. Gravity helps hold the air near the Earth, so there is less air the higher you go but as long as it is there, you can still breath it.

      Hello Samira, that’s a great question. There is certainly less ‘air’ in low gravity areas. We are lucky on Earth to have an atmosphere that contains air that we can breath and remains in place because of Earth’s gravitational attraction! When you climb a very high mountain on Earth (like the Himalayas) the air gets a lot thinner due to lower pressures. Without gravity, we would eventually lose our atmosphere. This is what happened to the Moon! 🙂

      Certainly different, but as long as there’s oxygen it won’t be that hard.
