The earth wasn’t ‘placed’, it formed with all the other planets about 4.6 billion years ago, we’re not sure exactly how everything formed, but we think the solar system used to be a big disc shaped cloud of gas and dust which eventually joined together to form the planets

Our solar system formed about 4.6 billion years ago (so 4.6 with 9 zeros after it!). With the Sun first and the Earth and other planets forming just after that.

Hello Giorgio! The Earth is about 4.6 billion years old and came into existence as a result of the Sun spinning and shooting off material that formed all of the planets in the Solar System! Our galaxy, the Milky Way, formed 13.5 billion years ago so Earth is quite young by comparison! : -)

About 20 galactic years ago. This means that the Earth and the Sun have gone around the entire galaxy about 20 times. The Galaxy as a whole should have completed something like 61 rotations (61 galactic years old).

In comparison, life appeared on Earth about 15 rotations ago. It means living beings on our planet have been able to go around the Galaxy 15 times!
