• Question: What is going to happen in a thousand years to the moon?

      The moon is actually slowly moving away from the Earth, so if you could look at the moon in 1000 years it would look a little bit smaller than it does today. It’s moving very slow though, only about 4cm per year

      The moon is moving away from Earth but not very fast. So that’s good if we ever get to have a moon base there! That would change the moon a lot, as people would use the rocks and ice there to help them live.

      Hello j1oney! The Moon is travelling away from the Earth at a rate similar to how fast your finger nails grow! We know this because we fire lasers at the Moon to find out how far away it is. As the Moon moves further away, the Earth becomes more un-stable and it will eventually start to wobble! This won’t happen in our life times but when it does the 4 seasons that we have on Earth will be changed completely because the Sun will only reach parts of the Earth for certain amounts of time! : -)

      Not much. It may have significantly more humans and human stuff on it though.
