The moon is a lot like the Earth as far as what it is made up of, because we think the moon formed when a planetoid called Theia crashed into the Earth when it was still forming and the material knocked off the Earth from the crash circled the Earth and gravity pulled it together to form the moon. So a lot of the types of rocks there are similar to Earth, but there seem to be fewer kinds – at least that we have found so far, as the astronauts who went to the moon brought back small samples of rocks but only from a few places. So it would be good to send more people to the moon who could go to different places and we could find out more of what it is made of.
Hello Jump, There are lots of crystals contained within the rocks of the Moon. There are different shapes, sizes and colours. I study a crystal called ‘apatite’ that is a pretty and has 6 crystal faces. Google it to see some beautiful images 🙂
