Matter is what we are all made of and most of things around us, so yes we can. 🙂 We also have small amounts of anti-matter around us all the time, too, but it isn’t dangerous – bananas give off a form of anti-matter called a positron (the opposite of an electron) every 75 minutes or so. I think that’s kind of fun.

We can hold 20% of the matter that makes up the Universe. We can’t hold any of the other 80% that we call dark matter because it does not interact electromagnetically, so it just goes through our hands and bodies all the time. We can feel its gravity, but nothing else!

Hi Lucia! Wow, what a great question! There are 2 types of matter that we know of. The stuff that makes us (think of all of those tiny atoms) and everything we use on a day to day basis – like computers or chairs. Then there is the matter that we can’t see, called dark matter. It is currently thought that we can’t hold this dark matter because it doesn’t have any substance, e.g. it would be like running your hand through thin air! : -)
