Although Eris is very far away from the sun, like Pluto, it is still close enough that it can feel a bit of the effects of the sun’s gravitational pull. The sun’s gravity technically extends out to infinity but the further away you get, then the less you feel the sun’s gravity and the more you feel the gravity of other objects, like other stars.
