• Question: have you ever sent a satiliette out into space?

      In some sense we all have. We work as a community to do these kinds of things – so the taxes I pay (and your parents pay) have contributed to satellites being sent into space.

      But personally I have not been involved in any satellites.

      I’ve never done it myself, because you need lots of technology and lots of money to shoot something up into orbit.

      But did you know that there are over 8000 satellites working up there at the moment, and 16,000 dead ones. It’s pretty crowded up there!

      I had a very tiny involvement with UKube, which is a small satellite being built by students in the UK.

      But I’m not actually that interested in Earth satellites.

      The instrument I am building will hopefully go on a Mars satellite eventually.
