• Question: Do burns scar?

      I think it depends on how deep the burn penetrates your skin. Your skin has lots of layers and a burn that penetrates more of these layers is more likely to scar

      It depends how bad it is. If you burn yourself on an oven or an iron, it only scorches or blisters the top surface of skin, which is replaced regularly anyway, so it won’t scar.

      If you burn yourself on a flame, or get a chemical burn, they can work through into the lower layers of skin, which your body can’t replace easily. As the burn heals, scar tissue forms quickly, which is paler and not as smooth as normal skin, and this will never be replaced so it leaves a scar.
