Question: Will Earth get destroyed by a black hole?

I don’t think so! I think we have a better chance of the sun swallowing us when it reaches the end of its life and puffs up before gradually cooling down and shrinking.

The Earth isn’t that close to any black holes (the closest that we know of is 27,000 light years away) and things can actually orbit around them. If the sun suddenly became a black hole, nothing would change about the Earth’s orbit, because the orbit of the Earth is dependent on the mass (how much stuff makes up a thing) of the Earth and the mass of the thing its orbiting. Black holes don’t actually suck everything up inside them like a hoover, they’re more like big whirlpools, things can go around them for quite a long time.
