I think that there must be, given just how big the Universe is, and how many planets there must be around other stars. We think that there are around 200 billion (2 followed by 11 zeroes) other stars in our galaxy the Milky Way. Recently, we’ve been discovering more and more planets around other stars, so we think that its likely that quite a few of these 200 billion other stars will also have planets. Some of these might have the right conditions for life to develop. That’s just our galaxy though. We now think that there are 2 trillion (2 followed by 12 zeroes) other galaxies in the Universe. Each of these will have roughly 200 million stars of their own, many of which will have planets which might have the right conditions for life.
