• Question: What do you think about the Soviet Union's contribution to science? (￣ー￣)ゞ

      Well the Soviet union has produced some of the worlds most brilliant scientists in history. Personally the people whose work has affected me tend to be physicists and mathematicians, for example Pavel Cherenkov, whose mysterious blue light seen in nuclear reactors I studied at uni, and Vladimir Fock who did some really abstract maths.

      My favourite has to be Andrey Kolmogorov. His work was absolutely brilliant and I use even today, especially the maths behind turbulence (like you see the wind whipping around behind a plane or car), probabilities, and the maths behind frequency spectra that he helped develop. If I had a dinner party of people from throughout history, he’d be invited. Oh and Sofia Kovalevskaya. So many!
