• Question: When you were younger, did any teachers try to bring you down or did any teachers help you achieve your success

      I went to 3 different primary schools and 1 secondary school, so I’ve had a lot of teachers! There were a few who I didn’t get along with – I didn’t find them very helpful and a couple made me a bit upset sometimes. But most of the teachers I’ve had were supportive and did their best to help us all. There are two teachers who I remember who helped me the most:
      1. A teacher at secondary school when I was having some problems with anxiety who helped me to feel more confident at school and wrote me a great reference for my university applications.
      2. A teacher I had at university who taught me a lot about research and how interesting it can be – before I worked with her I thought research as a job might be boring and the same every day, but it’s not like that at all! I might not even be a researcher now if I hadn’t worked with her.

    I remember the teachers that helped me to achieve things — and they’re certainly more important. I don’t remember any teachers that held me back, but if they did then I’d probably just forget them. I guess all my teachers influenced me and how I am as a person (for better or worse), and I’m thankful for that but I hope I can succeed because of the great teachers, and in spite of any bad teachers!
