      Hey joe,

I’m not sure the music I like describes me; rather as I change my tastes over time, the music I listen to also changes!

I like loads of things. I tend to avoid rap and the more commercial pop stuff, though if it’s really catchy or well-written or a really talented singer, I might enjoy it anyway.

      I like…
indie-style rock (Kasabian, Muse, Killers, Kings of Leon, Elbow, REM, Coldplay, Chilis, Stereophonics, Oasis, Blur, Manics)

more classic stuff & 80s (the Cure, the Clash, the Jam, Led Zeppelin, Stones, The Who, Stone Roses, Aerosmith, Fleetwood Mac, Genesis, Dire Straits, Eagles, Queen etc.)

electro-style (Royksopp, Daft Punk, Justice, Depeche Mode, Frankmusik)

Folk (Levellers, Mumford & Sons, Amy McDonald, Enya) & other chillout

Other (Audioslave, Scorpions, Daniel Merriweather, Moby, Beck, Massive Attack)

And a whole lot more!! I love music.

After the first 200 questions I’d have to say:

The Holdsteadys because imascientist almost killed me….

Hi joejerico, and congratulations on being the last question-poser for me today! When I’ve finished this, I can go and have a lie down and rest my aching fingers!

What music describes me best – Mmm. I have a serious answer, but I’m not sure it will make much sense – and that is Jean Sibelius’ sixth symphony!!

OK, so lets see if I can explain this rather bizarre answer: I really enjoy the books of John Wyndham, and as a teen I remember reading Trouble with Lichen. The book is set around researchers based in an old country house in England which had been converted into high tech labs – and kicked off a fantasy I’ve had ever since of being a scientist working in such a place (I’ve never managed it sadly!).

I also really enjoy the works of the Swedish composer Jean Sibelius – especially his sixth symphony. I happened to be be listening to this while reading Trouble with Lichen, and somehow the two fused – the music perfectly matched my dream of being a young researcher working in a converted country house at the cutting edge of science. Even now when I listen to it, it evokes in me that sense of being a scientist in an intense, remote community.

More detail than you wanted I know, but you did ask!

Hi joejericho…I love music so great question…..Indie music definately, but not too grungy if you know what I mean, so I suppose it reflects my personality of being free from major labels, creative, a bit different and organic!

At the moment, I’m currently listening to bands like White Lies, Florence and the Machine and The Editors. I’m a big fan of The Smiths, Shed 7, OMD and Depeche Mode:)
