Question: So you think there will be a cure for lung disease in the near future?

There’s lots of lung diseases so we’ll need lots of cures. A while ago scientists got really excited because they thought they’d cure the genetic lung disease cystic fibrosis with gene therapy but it turned out to be more difficult than they’d thought. You have to be so careful what you promise people about cures because it’s so important to them and their families.

I don’t think there’ll be one cure ( a panacea is acure for lots of ailments) but I’m hopeful that different treatments and maybe cures will emerge for lung diseases. The best cure we have at the moment is antibiotics. They cure terrible infective lung diseases and are genuinely life-saving.
