• Question: What would happen if the moon came closer to the earth

      Well, it depends how much closer?

      A little bit closer would be a small problem (bear in mind that the moon is actually getting farther from us every year by 4 cm more of less!), the tide would change a but nothing more then that.

      The moon and Earth distance is set by the gravitational force and the only way for the moon to get closer would be for an asteroid to hit the moon and throw it at us very rapidly! Well, you could imagine that that won’t be a good for the Earth since it would probably create a very big hole or even split the planet into pieces! :/
