Neutrons are one of the three particles, along with the protons and electrons, which make up the atoms. They have very interesting properties that have the same mass as protons but have no electrical charge (protons and electrons have the same electrical charge but opposite sign).

Neutrons are in the center of the atom with the protons. Its function is to make the core stable. Since the protons have all the same charge they repel each other (as when trying to put the positive poles of two magnets together), the neutrons make “glue” between them and thus the nucleus of the atom is stable.
