• Question: If a tree falls in the middle of a vast forest where no man can hear it. Does it make a sound as it falls?

      This depends a lot on how you define sound. If you define sound as a set of pressure waves in a medium (in this case air) then the tree falling will still cause these waves, even if no one is there. However if you think sound is the reaction in your brain to these waves stimulating your ear drums, then it makes no sound unless someone is there to hear it!
