Rheumatism is a collection of problems affecting your joints and the cells (connective tissue) that connect all the body parts.

The cause will determine what type of rheumatism you have will have. For example Rheumatoid arthritis is caused by a failure in the system that helps fight off germs. Your immune system starts to attack the cells that connect your joints, making them swollen, stiff and painful.
