• Question: Will renewable energy ever solve the problem of not having to use non-renewable energy like oil and coal?

      I really hope so! If you think 1000 years into the future and imagine humans living on other planets, I would hope we would have some high tech renewable source of energy, like maybe nuclear fusion. The sooner we can move away from oil and coal the better!

      It would be great if it could but I think we’re still along way from replacing oil and coal. Sadly I don’t think there’s always enough focus on developing sensible, workable alternatives

      Hi again,

      Since we know that coal and oil will run out eventually there is a lot of pressure on scientists to improve our renewable sources.
      Germany has just set a new record and now gets 78% of its energy from renewable sources and other countries are following their lead.
      At the moment coal and oil are still some of the cheapest sources of energy, but eventually the renewables will become cheaper and the switch will happen.
