Cancer is your own body cells going rogue. Every time your cells get damaged through, for example, the sun, or every time your cells divide, there are errors in the genetic materials, called mutations. Most of these can be repaired or do not have a negative effect because they are in a region that is not important. If, however, a sensitive point is hit and a change made, it can cause that particular cell to divide uncontrollably and prevent the organ to do its job right. It can also travel to other places in the body and start another cancer there. That is called metastasis. Different things can increase your risk of getting cancer, like smoking, certain chemicals, radiation,… but you can also get it by being unlucky as your cells also get mutations while you live your life healthy.
      Hope this helps =o)
