Plants in potassium deficient soil grow poorly and have poor fruit and flowers and discoloured leaves. Plants need potassium for respiration and photosynthesis. This is because some of the enzymes that are required for respiration and photosynthesis need potassium to work efficiently

Potassium is one of the most important elements for plants to grow. It’s critical for the production of key enzymes, proteins and other elements. A shortage of potassium in the soil will result in a plant that is soft and weak.
