Good question. There’s actually quiet a lot of simple things you can do that can save a lot of energy an reduce your carbon foot print:
Switching off lights in your house if you are not using them;
Not leaving your TV or computer on standby;
Covering pans with lids when you are heating up food or water;
Walking, cycling or scooting to school instead of using the car.
Interestingly, after travelling, food is the next biggest contributor to our carbon foot print. So you could try eating only seasonal foods (so apples in Autumn, and strawberries in summer) as well as reducing the amount of meat you eat (the production of meat uses a lot of energy compared to vegetables).
Try to save electricity by turning things off when you don’t need them, like your TV or computer and walking/cycling to school are probably the easiest ways.
Recycling as much as you can is also an easy thing you can do at home.
You can also plant trees, which will reduce your carbon footprint because they can take carbon dioxide out of the atmosphere. If you plant enough, you can become carbon neutral – where you have no carbon footprint at all!
