There’s loads of companies saying their products are the miracle cure! The science behind wrinkle cures though is unsurprisingly poor. They often use big words to impress you, like “emollients”, “aqua” and “humectants”. But these basically mean these “lotions” contain “water” and “moisturisers”.
Most products give you a temporary effect of less wrinkles as they add more moisture to your skin which helps reduce the appearance of wrinkles. But they don’t ‘cure’ wrinkles.
How many wrinkles you get and how big they are is largely determined by your genetics. So maybe look at your parents or grandparents to give you an idea – but don’t tell them why you are staring at them 😉
Most products out there aim to get rid of wrinkles that are already there. Creams work by slightly stretching the skin ‘pulling out’ the wrinkles.
There is a cure called Botox. This is actually a poison that can stop the muscles in the face from moving too much, keeping the skin very smooth and wrinkle free. Botox works well, but it does involve injecting poison to the skin, not very nice 🙁
I think in the future there will be a better cure, using gene therapy, or possible even a way of stopping the ageing process, we’re learning more all the time 🙂
