  The problem with nuclear waste is its radioactivity. We can’t stop things being radioactive, we can only wait for the radioactivity to go down over time and this can take millions of years.
  
  If we put it in a volcano it would be out of the way and protect us from a lot of radiation (since we don’t spend too much time near volcanoes) so yes we could. The problem might be that the volcano could erupt, which would spread the radiation over a much larger area and into the atmosphere – which is exactly where we don’t want it!
  
  We could try sending it into space instead though.
