I think I started doing science before I was old enough to realise that’s what I was doing. I think we all do little experiments all the time – what happens when I throw this rock in the lake? What happens if I find a bigger rock?! Is a chocolate spread and crisp sandwich tasty? (It is) What happens when I plant this seed? etc. We’re all doing science all the time!

I’ve been reading books about science since I could read, and we started studying science in school when I was 8. The first science thing I saw was the cells of an onion under a microscope! It’s quite easy to do, so if you’ve not tried that first, ask your teacher to show you!

So I was always interested in science, and started learning about genetics when I was 14 – that’s when I decided I want to study it in more detail, and here I am now, at 25, still studying genetics!
