The biggest part of the brain by the amount of space it takes up is the cerebral cortex. This is the part which gives you functions like spontaneous movement, interpreting your senses, making plans, conscious thought, and memory. It’s the bit that you picture when you think what a brain looks like. However, it’s not the most important part in terms of keeping you alive!
