In general, computers work better when they are cooled – because electrons can travel faster through material that is cold. The harder a computer works, the more electrons are travelling through it, which cause the system to heat up. The fans inside a computer or laptop make sure to remove this excess heat.

What happens when MY computer overheats however? At work, I’m lucky because most of the work that I do is performed by supercomputers that are capable of doing a lot of hard work without overheating.
At home, my laptop sometimes gets quite warm when I am playing video games. Sometimes this results in the laptop crashing, but letting it rest a bit and restarting it usually fixes the issue!
