The answer is almost certainly yes.

The more we explore the universe with high-powered telescopes the better we are at finding stars which are roughly like the Sun. When we look at these stars, many have their own systems of planets and some of these planets are thought to be a similar size to earth and a similar distance from their own stars.

We can find planets like these in our own galaxy. In theory there should be billions of similar planets to Earth across the universe. It would only take a tiny fraction of these for life to develop and there would be millions of planets with life out there.

You would have expected some of these to have had life for longer than Earth and developed efficient space travel and yet we have no evidence of this. Why? No-one really knows. This is called the Fermi Paradox.
