Rice comes from a plant, just like wheat or oats! It is grown and when it is ripe, it is harvested and dried, sometimes removing its outside husk .

Brown rice is made this way – to get white rice, in addition to removing the husk, the hull, bran layer and cereal germ are also removed from the rice – this is why brown rice is actually healthier, because all the things that get removed from white rice still contain nutrients that are useful for our bodies.
