      Interesting question!

Pterodactyls (it’s got a funny silent P at the start!) and other pterosaurs, which are all flying reptiles, probably evolved to fly because it made them better hunters of other animals, or better at avoiding animals that were hunting them!

They evolved to have big powerful flight muscle sand lightweight bones just like birds, but we still don’t know much about how they were able to take-off and fly as they are so much bigger than the flying birds we have today – it’s a very interesting area of research!
