      For a while it was thought that giraffes evolved to have long necks because the giraffes with slightly longer necks were able to reach higher trees and get more leaves, meaning they survived and reproduced more than shorter giraffes – this is natural selection.

      However, there are other theories that the adaptation of long necks may have also been selected for as a means of spying predators from far away, or for impressing females and fighting other males with!
