      Great question! The short answer is that we don’t really know!

      Scientists think that purring may have evolved as a way for kittens and their mothers to let each other know they are happy when they are feeding, socialising or relaxing. Purring may also have adapted as a way to let other cats (or us) know that they’re hungry and want feeding!

      This is the type of question that got me interested in becoming a scientist 🙂
