Black holes are areas of space-time that have such high levels of gravity that not even light can escape! It is thought that black holes are created when stars become too big and powerful to sustain themselves and collapse under their own immense gravity – but black holes are very mysterious and there is still a lot of work to be done until we really understand what they are!
