Pretty much everything in the universe causes gravity, just by existing! Even we have our own effect on gravity, but it is tiny compared to the gravity caused by the Earth, which is why we are drawn down towards it and don’t go floating off into space!

Basically, the heavier something is, the higher the gravitational pull. This is why the moon is pulled towards the Earth, and why the Earth is pulled towards the sun! If the Earth was much smaller, the gravity we felt would be lower – and if it was much bigger, then we would feel an even greater gravitational pull down to the ground!

I hope that helps, there is a lot more that we know about gravity but the specific details go a bit above my head! 🙂
