Maybe. It’s very easy to travel forward through time. Technically, we’re travelling forward through time all the time, just slowly at one second per second. We can travel faster through time by going close to the speed of light or sitting close to a black hole.
Going backwards is trickier. Some scientists have suggested that if we were to make a time machine going backwards, it would only be able to go backwards in time as far as when it was created. Kinda like a telephone can only call somewhere that already has a telephone. So if that was true we couldn’t go back to visit the dinosaurs or anything like that.
There is an interesting paradox regarding the invention of time travel. If in the future someone did invent time travel why haven’t they already come back to say hi? And if they haven’t is there a good reason they haven’t. It all boggles my mind a little bit I have to admit.
As Suzanne mentioned it is possible to manipulate the flow of time in quantum terms, slowing or speeding up the flow of time, but it is very difficult to make it change direction.
It’s possible I guess, But I don’t think it work how you want it to. I really don’t think you will ever be able to travel into the future and then return. It gets really tricky in the way you think about it.
