That’s a good question! There are several space missions that aim to find life in our Universe. So far there have been no signs of any living organism, not even bacteria. Scientists are looking for planets in a similar situation to Earth, where it is in orbit around a star at a certain distance, with water on it ideal to support life. I believe that there is life out there somewhere but I would have no idea what sort of life it could be, there could be a planet of horrible dribbling monsters with enormous teeth. Maybe there is another planet out there just like ours with people on it just like us. You never know!
With all the planets we can see using the amzing technology we have today it just goes to show how special and unique our planet is!

Well as far as aliens go who knows. There are plenty of earth lik planets out there being discovered out there that could very well hold carbon based life like our own. On the other hand who says life has to be carbon based on the first place? With space being so vast there is every possibility that life could have sprung up working on very different principles to those found on earth. The search for extraterrestrial life is a field known as Astrobiology if you are interested in knowing more.

As for monsters well how do you define a monster? The very deep ocean has some pretty spectacularly bizarre looking creatures. My bet is that if there is anything particularly monstrous to be found left on this planet then it will be lurking down there somewhere. We actually know far more about the surface of the moon than about the deep oceans so there is a lot that is still to be explored. Personally I think this jellyfish could be considered fairly monstrous.

I’d be surprised if aliens didn’t exist! The universe is a big place. I’d be even more surprised if they visited us though. They’d have to evolve at the right time, be waaay more advanced than we are, develop fast space travel, and visit earth at just the right time, or there wouldn’t have been people to talk to.

If there are aliens as complex as human beings – they would probably look like monsters to us, just because of how weird they would be.

Monsters depends on what you mean by monsters. There are lots of creatures that could be considered monsters (some deep sea fish are pretty crazy looking!), but that’s just because they’re new to us.

It would be awesome if aliens exist. There’s actually an equation, the Drake equation (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Drake_equation) which estimates how many aliens might exist. It depends on how many starts have planets that might support life, and then the chance of intelligent life evolving there, etc. The fun thing is in the past ten years we’ve been getting really good at discovering extra-solar planets, which are planets outside of our solar system.

Of course, if aliens exist somewhere, would we ever get to meet them? And would we recognise them if we did? Life that evolves somewhere else might be very different. Here everything is based on carbon, but maybe aliens are silicon based creatures.

I got asked a question like this before, I do think Aliens must exist somewhere in the Universe. The universe is so unimaginably gigantic that its so improbable that our little planet is the only place earth was able to develop. I’m not really sure what Monsters are but there are definitely some creepy animals out there, and we haven’t explored to the bottom of the oceans yet so who knows what nasty creatures there are out there. I’m pretty sure they aren’t hiding under our beds though.
