Haha you’d be amazed at how often i hear that question. In short no. There are about a million and one safety procedures set in place to make sure I don’t get exposed to anything harmful. The x-rays themselves are housed inside aluminium tubing which is then housed inside lead lined experimental hutches. There are various fail safes put in place to prevent the beam being turned on whilst you are inside the hutch and quite a few procedures we have to follow before turning them on. Although I use X-rays a billion times more powerful than radiographers in hospitals I’d say they are at much more risk than I am.
