Ticking off my to-do list at the end of it! My favourite part of my job is what I call ‘tinkering’ with data – organising my data neatly, looking for patterns, making figures – I find it really satisfying to explore. So I really enjoy any opportunities I get to play around with data and figure out how to best share with others.

It depends what I’m doing that day. Sometimes I know I’m doing something big like launching a study so I’m really excited for that. Others days I know I’m just going to be marking essays or filling out paperwork at which point lunch becomes my favourite part of the day. Luckily the second isn’t too common though!!

Well, on a weekday it is late evening when I finally get to sit down and have a rest! Each work day is very different and there are good bits throughout that are work related but relaxing with the family and turning off from work is always nice 🙂

I also like ticking off to do lists I make – feels really satisfying. But the best thing for me in general is being able to have choice and independence to decide what I might like to read, write, or who I might like to meet and talk with that day (virtually right now).

Good question! For me it also depends whether I’m working with animals or with data. When it’s with data, I love when something I’ve been struggling with finally runs, or if I’m writing, sometimes I’ll write a sentence I’m quite pleased with and then stop for a coffee!
At the moment, I am working with pigs and I just love to see them all cuddled up sleeping next to their siblings.

My clinical sessions with clients are my favourite part of my day, this could be anything from undertaking psychological/cognitive assessments, delivering a type of therapy, working with a family or completing a formulation with someone. I enjoy meeting and working with new people and I am always humbled by clients sharing their mental health stories with me.

Hmm.. don’t think I have a favourite time/activity that carries on from day to day. Some days I love the end of work, the sense of achievement for the things you have done. Other days, however, I absolutely hate it because I wish I had more time to do the things I wanted to.

The end of the day when I get chance to wind down and either exercise, do a bit of reading, or watch TV. At the moment I look forward to watching Ant and Dec on TV!

Probably morning, I don’t enjoy having to wake up but I look forward to walking my dogs first thing in the morning and having breakfast afterwards.

Every day is different but I do really enjoy working with students on projects linked to my area of research. I help supervise undergraduate students working on their final year projects as well as MSc students working on their dissertations. It’s so lovely to see how students you are working with are progressing and finding the topic you research in interesting.

I really enjoy when a big chunk of work is done, and I can hit “send” to my boss! Aah, the relief! haha
