I speak to people with lymphoedema, which means they have a part of their body that is swollen. Across Manchester some people can get really good care for their swelling and in other places their care isn’t as good. One day we had a big event and lots of people came to learn about lymphoedema. We had a film crew come to the event and they filmed the event so that others can find out what its like to have lymphoedema. We also had a meeting at a lovely hotel. Here we talked about ways we can make things better for patients. The hotel was very nice and they gave us sweets at the end of our meeting.

My Typical Day:
I’m not very good at waking up in the morning, but my children always wake me up early. At the moment I work at home, usually I sit at the kitchen table. I speak to my work friends on the phone or on my laptop using video calls.

At work I speak to people a lot. I call them on the phone and sometimes meet them in cafes. They tell me their stories about what their life is like when they have lymphoedema. I usually work in a hospital but because of the virus I have been working at home. This means I have spoken to people mostly on video calls or on the phone. I make newsletters and send them by email to patients. I meet with doctors and people that look after people with lymphoedema. I make questionnaires for people to ask questions about lymphoedema. I have online coffee meetings with patients, I use zoom to speak with them over video chat.
