• Question: which feature of the brain do you like to observe the most and why?

      Most of my research involves cognition, which involves lots of different parts of the brain. Cognition is essentially our thinking processes. Things like paying attention, memory, or something more complex like planning. It is fascinating to study cognition, because it plays a role in everything we do. It can be challenging to measure, though.

      I don’t look at specific areas of the brain in my work. I did find memory really interesting when I was in university – that’s linked to a tiny part of your brain called the hippocampus which is pretty cool!

      I’m a fan of the brain stem, as essentially it keeps us alive and is responsible for all the autonomic functions like breathing, heart beat and swallowing. Its a marvel, really.
