Everything we know in psychology comes from research. To have a career in psychology you have to be prepared to read research papers and understanding the research methods. If you can enjoy this, you’ll enjoy psychology!

I would say that it’s important to think critically. As much as the focus tends to be on understanding theory and remembering the details of research studies, the aspect that is really important for taking it forward is to question everything! For example, once you understand a theory or study, think about why it’s this way, and consider what questions you still have, and what the researcher could have done better!

I’d say just go for it and don’t be afraid to change your mind. There are so many options in psychology to follow what you’re interested in, so I’d say to try and experience a bit of everything before making a big decision! And if, once you’re at university, you find that you really don’t like it, it’s pretty easy to switch courses too. So don’t be afraid to just try!
