Probably deciding between staying specialist to psychological research or generalist to leadership in a business role. I stayed true to research and it was a harder route to reward but a fascinating career getting to chief scientist.
Myself! It’s taken me a long time to find out what I wanted out of life and how to achieve it. To be honest I’m not sure I’m there yet :D. There are always other obstacles life will throw at you, but if you can’t face them as your self (i.e. not trying to be someone or something else) you’ll never get over them all.
I wasn’t very well when I was in high school so I ended up doing my GCSEs through online distance learning and only did 2 GCSEs. So for a while I wasn’t sure if I’d ever be able to get to university, but it taught me how important it is to me to be able to learn and it left me feeling really determined 😊
Good question! I have a disability, and had lots of problems with my health during A Levels. It was a hard to try to understand my limits, and to take breaks when I needed them. Because of my health, I ended up not doing as well as I was predicted in my A Levels, and I went through clearing to get into Essex. I think this was a big mental obstacle because I was really emotional over not getting the grades I expected, but getting to go to Essex has truly made me the person I am today, and because of Essex I am now studying for my PhD!
