• Question: How much of an impact do you think your research will make on the world long term?

      That’s a really good question! Sometimes I think that maybe my research won’t change the world, like research into cancer or mental illnesses or something like that. However, a lot of research is done on a very specific topic area, and I hope that maybe my research will change something small in my field, and will have a bigger impact later on!

      My research looks at whether taking part in martial arts can improve attention (it looks like it can!), but that doesn’t mean that I want everyone to run out to start martial arts practice. I hope that my research helps us better understand how different forms of exercise can help the brain in different ways, so that people can choose a sport which suits them. So I hope my research fits into a larger idea about exercise and physical, mental, and cognitive wellbeing 😊
